The WSD Programme works in partnership with Age Concern Newham to provide a range of support services to participants using TeleHealth on the WSD Trial.
The key objectives of the partnership are to:
Connect TeleHealth patients with each other
Provide opportunities for users to share their experiences of TeleHealth
Introduce new users to the TeleHealth Programme in a friendly and informative environment.

Age Concern’s WSD User Involvement Workstream Manager, Taiwo Adeogun, leads the partnership with WSD and coordinates and facilitates the User Involvement events. She is assisted by highly experienced TeleHealth users who have become official advocates to other users and the wider public. These advocates are known as:
Ambassadors - users who share their experiences with a wider audience. These can include contributing to case studies, interviews, newsletters and other media activities within the WSD Trial.
Peer motivators - users who share their experiences of TeleHealth with other users.

User Involvement Events include some of the following activities:
Group Support Network Sessions – events for TeleHealth users to share their experiences of the system with newer users as well as introduce them to the Programme. Each of the sessions include group discussions, where a representative from each table then reports back to the wider group on user 'stories' and feedback.
User Friendly Forums – similar to item 1 above, but also provides an opportunity to invite a wider audience such as health and social care professionals, TeleHealth managers and other speakers to talk about TeleHealth and the WSD Programme overall. For instance, at a recent User Friendly Forum, users heard presentations from Councillor Joy Laguda (a strong advocate of the WSD Programme) and Martin Scarfe, Managing Director of the WSD Project.
Patient Planning Group Meetings – where the User Involvement Workstream Manager
works with TeleHealth Peer Motivators and Ambassadors to review upcoming support group networks and forums and the setting up of a calendar of user involvement events.
Please see the Events
section for details of upcoming User Involvement Events.
